Member Benefits
Since its establishment in 1865, the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers is the oldest continuously operating union in North America. Local #3, which includes Texas, Arizona and New Mexico, has approximately 600 members that benefit from health and welfare benefits for themselves and their family, a retirement pension and negotiations for fair wages. Local #3 cross-trains members in brick, block, stone,
PCC, marble, tile terrazzo, cement plaster and mosaic to help them become more well-rounded workers. Classes are held locally twice a month for apprentices, and membership requires completion of
OSHA and hazardous materials classes.
A 12-week course in Bowie, Maryland is also offered for apprentices and journeymen who want to work further on their skills.
