comes to us from the construction and mining
equipment industry where he held various
senior and executive level positions, and his
educational background is in Human
Resource Management and Organization

Business Manager Jerry Romero is a lifetime resident of New Mexico and has over 30 years of experience in the construction industry. He was elected Business Manager in June 1999 after serving as Sergeant at Arms, Executive Board Member, Vice President and Joint Apprenticeship Trustee/Committee member.

Business Manager : Tom Montano
Tom Montano was elected Business Manager in 1999. His six years of experience as Union Organizer and Special Representative helped prepare him for the role of Business Manager and assure the members of his commitment to the union. Never one to forget his experience as a four-year apprentice and working through the ranks as a journeyman, foreman and general foreman, Mr. Montano is guided by his desire to do what’s best for the majority of the membership with every decision he makes.
Mr. Montano also strives to maintain a harmonious and mutually beneficial relationship with other Union-affiliated contractors. Without contractors, members would not have jobs and without union members, the contractors wouldn’t have access to the high-quality workforce they need to get their work done.

Sheet Metal Workers #49
Ray Diaz began serving on the executive board in 1995 and was elected Business Manager in October 2005. He has worked for the union since March of 1999 when he was appointed organizer of the Southern New Mexico region. He believes in keeping members informed and keeping the Union fair to all workers. He is also bi-lingual, making it easier to communicate with almost all of the members. Mr. Diaz works hard to help organize the non-union labor in the region and leave Local #49 stronger than when he began.

Business Manager Pat Vigil has been a member of Local #953 for 33 years. He served on the Executive Board for 10 years before being elected to the position of Business Manager in August 2006. Mr. Vigil’s biggest goal for Local #953 is to make sure the members are receiving good representation, good contracts, appropriate wages and proper working conditions.
Prior to becoming Business Manager, Mr. Vigil is a licensed crane operator who has worked on a variety of construction projects, including the NIPI Canal Project, Big Earth Dam (Cochiti, NM) and multiple asphalt projects in Los Alamos. He has enjoyed years of operating heavy equipment but now enjoys representing Local #953 and its members.

Business Manager: Robert Vigil

Robert Vigil was elected Business Manager in 2005. He has 28 years of experience in the plastering trade which helps him understand and address his members’ needs. Mr. Vigil is also bilingual so he can communicate effectively with the majority of the membership. During his tenure, Mr. Vigil would like to increase the Local #254 membership base.
